Melvin Manhoef and Hisaki Kato were expected to go toe-to-toe in the Bellator 146 main event, and that’s exactly what happened before “No Mercy” scored a first-round knockout victory.
Manhoef (30-12-1 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) exchanged in fearless striking exchanges with Kato (5-2 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) for several minutes before a perfect overhand left knocked the French fighter down and out.
Manhoef was the subject of retirement pressure following back-to-back knockouts under the Bellator banner, but at 39, it appears he still has something left to offer.
