Former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida (20-4 MMA, 12-4 UFC) announced his arrival to the middleweight division in highlight-reel fashion with a spectacular head-kick knockout of Mark Munoz (13-4 MMA, 8-4 UFC) in Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 30 main event.
After spending the entirety of his UFC career at 205 pounds, “The Dragon” made his long awaited 185-pound debut in memorable fashion, putting fellow middleweight contenders on notice.
The finish of Munoz was the fastest knockout of the Brazilian’s UFC career, and it left the MMA community – including UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman – excited for Machida’s future.

That KO was set up by that body shot. Got Munoz to change his guard and leave the opening for the high kick.

Gotta love that southpaw left high kick….

KO happened with the body kick cuz Machida feinted w/kick prior & Mark’s hands went low. Head kick came later because of it. Impressive!

Lombard at 170. Machida at 185. Two former champions. Two new divisions. Two immediate impacts. Wow.

Machida earns his 12th knockdown of an opponent and gains sole possession of 4th place in UFC history. He passed JDS. #UFCFightNight
