Donald Cerrone backed up his “anyone, anytime, anywhere” philosophy on Monday when UFC officials announced “Cowboy” will return to the octagon just 15 days after his UFC 182 victory over Myles Jury.
Cerrone (26-6 MMA, 13-3 UFC) will step in for Eddie Alvarez to face former UFC champion Benson Henderson (21-4 MMA, 9-2 UFC) in UFC Fight Night 59’s co-main event on Jan. 18 at Boston’s TD Garden.
Despite the two losses to “Smooth” already on his resume, Cerrone had no reservations in taking the bout, which will be his sixth in less than 12 months. That attitude has made him beloved by many MMA fans.
While Cerrone always says he’ll step up and compete no matter how much notice he receives, the MMA community was still shocked to learn he was indeed matched against Henderson under such circumstances.
