Travis Browne Back in Training Just in Case Needed for UFC 146

Following a quick win over Chad Griggs at UFC 145, just about everybody was wondering if Travis Browne would get the call from the promotion to step in and help save a fight at UFC 146 where all five main card bouts are heavyweight contests.

Browne dispatched of Griggs with little wear and tear, but admitted after the fight that he spent so many weeks in training while at Team Jackson’s in New Mexico that he left his family behind so he could concentrate on his preparation for the bout.

Following UFC 145, Dana White stated that he hated to pull fighters back into bouts on a quick turn around, especially when they’ve already sacrificed so much time with their families while in a previous camp.

Well, Travis Browne is staying at the ready for UFC 146 just in case the organization needs him and makes the call to the bullpen.

According to his manager John Fosco of VF Elite Sports Management when speaking to MMAWeekly.com on Monday, Browne is back in camp and training just in case the UFC needs him on short notice at UFC 146.

Fosco stated that while Browne has not been offered a fight at UFC 146, he’s already training again and working to get ready just in case one of the 10 heavyweights on the main card of the May 26 show aren’t able to make it.

Browne has been working for the past several months at Team Greg Jackson in New Mexico, and is already training again and staying in shape just in case the UFC needs him.

Over his last several fights, Browne has gone 4-0-1 while fighting under the UFC banner and has become one of the top prospects in the heavyweight division.

Will Browne end up fighting at UFC 146?

That’s unknown at this time but if somebody is unable or unwilling to fight, Travis Browne will likely be the first person on UFC matchmaker Joe Silva’s speed dial to step in as a replacement.
