The Rock: Conor McGregor's act 'reminds me of how I was in the WWE'

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson knows a little about superstar qualities. Johnson was a massive star in the world of professional wrestling before hanging up his boots and transitioning to Hollywood, a move that has resulted in his becoming a major box office draw.

Johnson has been very present around UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey. The two co-stared in “Furious 7? and Rousey even showed up as backup for “The Rock” at WrestleMania 31.

Johnson is now speaking out on another controversial and media savvy UFC star.

While talking to Fox Sports, Johnson compared featherweight star Conor McGregor to his own character when he was in the WWE.

McGregor (17-2 MMA, 5-0 UFC) meets UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo (25-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC) in the main event of UFC 189. The bout will take place on July 11 live on pay-per-view from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

“What I love about Conor is the same thing I love, by the way, about Aldo, with Aldo there’s a quiet confidence and with Conor the confidence is not quiet,” Johnson said. “It reminds me of how I was in the WWE.”

“I was bold and talking sh-t and there was nothing I wouldn’t say. Obviously in WWE it’s a work and it’s not real and we knew who was going to win and lose but I would do everything I could just in terms of what could I do to create interest. Conor’s a smart guy like that. He creates great interest.”

Johnson didn’t go on record picking a winner.
