TUF ‘The Smashes’ Episode 7 Recap: Secret Diary Divides UK Team

TUF The Smashes Episode 7 opened with Team UK going on a rampage in the house with an egg fight breaking out between the team, and Australia’s Ben Wall joining in on the fun.

Bola Omoyele went one step further and grabbed the fire extinguisher and let loose through the house and, as he went to chase a teammate, he fell flat on his arse.

The clean up began, but all involved believed it was worth the fun. The rest of the Australian team, however, wasn’t impressed by the antics the following morning.

At the fight announcement, it had already been predetermined from the last welterweight fight selection and Bradley Scott (UK) and Xavier Lucas (AUS) faced off.

As both teams were about to leave the gym after the day’s training, they were called together and the news was broken that Australia’s replacement welterweight James Vainikolo had to fight a UK welterweight to earn a semifinal spot. Team Australia were allowed to choose the fight and coach George Sotiropoulos chose to sit on the decision for a few days.

UK’s Bradley Scott has a diary in the house with him where he writes his daily activities and who he likes and doesn’t like in the house. After his other teammates found out about the diary, they stole it and had a read through it.

The team took offense to the comments and the UK team started to turn on one of their own.

At the weigh-in, Bradley Scott and Xavier Lucas both weighed in at 170.5 pounds.

The night before the fight, Valentino Henescu confronted Scott during a game of pool and the two were involved in a verbal war with Henescu saying that if he spars Scott his teammate won’t be walking out of the cage afterwards.

It all seemed to be forgotten the following morning with Scott’s teammates finding out that he has written nice stuff about them in the diary as well.

Just before the fight, UFC fighter James Te Huna – a New Zealander that now resides in Australia – paid a visit to Team Australia to offer words of wisdom.

Bradley Scott (UK) vs. Xavier Lucas (AUS):

Round 1- Scott went on the offensive early and ate a stiff jab by Lucas. Lucas pounced, catching Scott, landing short shots from the clinch. Both fighters clinched for position against the cage. Scott landed some short shots of his own before taking Lucas to the mat. Scott was able to land ground strikes from side control and closed out the round in half mount. 10-9 Scott.

Round 2- Scott came out landing a leg kick, but was wary of Lucas’ hand power and Lucas dominated the stand up before being caught with a low blow. After a brief break, Lucas clipped Scott and pushed forward getting the takedown. After little activity, the referee stood both fighters up and Scott dropped Lucas before pouncing with ground and pound. Scott took the back of Lucas landing elbows and ground strikes to the final bell. 10-9 Scott.

Bradley Scott def. Xavier Lucas via Unanimous Decision.

“I’m really emotional and sad because I lost,” Lucus said. “I hope I didn’t let Australia down; I fought my best.”

“I’m happy with the result,” Scott said. “Hopefully I win my semifinal and get to fight here live in December.”
