TUF 16's Dom Waters Blog – Talks Team Nelson’s Training and Week 1 in the House

Team Nelson No. 1 pick Dom Waters returns to talk about the first week in the Ultimate Fighter house, Team Nelson’s training regimen and much more

The first legit week in the house was really cool. After the fight picks we (Team Nelson) had our first training session together. But before talked about the training schedule and how practices were going to be broken down, Roy brought in some good coaches (Jeff Mayweather, Ron Fraizer, and Anthony “Hitman” Brown).

Roy decided that we would mostly do one practice a day, and two days out of the week we would have two a days. Most of the guys disagreed with this.

Our first training session together was pretty good, I worked with Colton, Mike, Cameron, and Roy. We were doing some cage control and pummeling stuff, we had a good warm up and a hard training session. When we all got back to the house we all ate with each other.

From our first practice I was thinking Team Nelson was going to be great to be on. The decision was made for Cameron to fight Neil because Roy thought that was the best match up for Cameron.

So all the way up until the fight myself and Colton were helping Cam giving him people to work with and what not. I was sure that he was going to do good against Neill.

Back at the house people were already start to get bored and stuff, so a few of Team Nelson members decided to set up a prank, I was just in my room relaxing. But they put some flour at the top of the door, and when Team Carwin member Mike Ricci walked through the door it got him just right, Ricci took it in stride and went to throw the rest of it on Nic Webb.

Fight day felt great Cameron has a great diet so he made weight good and he rehydrated his body almost perfectly, so I know as a team (team nelson) we thought he was just going to tap Niel at some point in this fight, but that’s why they actually have people fight.

First round of this one was basically them feeling one another out and Neil using his tall frame and long arms to keep Cam off balance and away. Second round was just more of the same it was a good victory for Neil and a learning experience for Cam.

After the fight Team Carwin took control of fight picks as Neil got the W. It’s an explosive season of The Ultimate Fighter make sure to tune in Fridays on FX, and follow me on the social networks.
