‘TUF 15' alums Daron Cruickshank, Mike Rio meet at UFC on FOX 10 in Chicago

The UFC’s January dance card in Chicago continues to fill up with the addition of the show’s 11th fight – a battle of alums from Season 15 of “The Ultimate Fighter.”

Daron Cruickshank (13-4 MMA, 3-2 UFC) will meet Mike Rio (9-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) in a lightweight bout when the UFC returns to the Windy City next month for UFC on FOX 10. Promotion officials announced the new fight booking on Sunday.

UFC on FOX 10 takes place Jan. 25 at United Center in Chicago. The main card, including a main-event lightweight contenders bout between former UFC champ Benson Henderson and former Strikeforce titleholder Josh Thomson, will air on FOX following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and MMAjunkie.

Cruickshank a month ago was submitted by Adriano Martins in Brazil, so he’ll be looking to get back on track following that loss. The setback came after a split-decision win over Yves Edwards and a unanimous decision loss to John Makdessi, making him 1-2 in 2013 after starting his UFC career 2-0.

Rio may find himself in must-win territory after back-to-back submission losses, both in the first round. In May, he was stopped with an arm-triangle choke by Francisco Trinaldo in Brazil. He followed that up by tapping to a Tony Ferguson D’Arce choke at UFC 166 in October. He started his career 9-1, including a win in his UFC debut at the TUF 16 Finale. He made his first official fight then instead of the TUF 15 Finale due to injuries he suffered on the live edition of the reality series.

With the addition, the latest UFC on FOX 10 card now includes:
