Round 1
After 30 seconds of bouncing on the feet, Duran shoots in and gets
caught in an arm-in guillotine. Rivera is latched on tight, but
Duran postures up and shakes him loose, muscling his man into the
fence. Duran gets off a hard shot to the face of Rivera before they
work back to the feet. As they do, Duran finds himself in another
guillotine choke, this time with Rivera’s back to the fence. Again
it looks tight, but again Duran waits it out and extracts his head.
The bantamweights clinch up and trade tit-for-tat punches and knees
to the body and head. Rivera tries a trip, but Duran defends and
responds with hard right hands and knees. Duran gets the takedown
with 90 seconds on the clock and puts Rivera against the base of
the fence. Duran stands up and falls back for a guillotine of his
own. It doesn’t stick, and Rivera winds up in Duran’s closed guard,
mashing with hard elbows to the jaw.
Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Rivera
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Rivera
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Rivera
Round 2
Rivera comes with leg kicks while Duran tries to come over the top
with a right hand. Duran goes to a left jab and gets socked, a hard
hook from Rivera putting him on rubbery legs. Duran recovers
quickly, however, and resumes his boxing. An inside thigh kick
catches Rivera in the cup and referee Herb Dean calls for a break.
Rivera recovers quickly and they resume with 3:17 on the clock.
Rivera tries an inside thigh kick and gets rushed on. He backs into
the cage and jumps guard for another guillotine attempt. Duran
breaks the choke by putting Rivera on his back and begins punching
to the ribs. Rivera leans to his right, locking up Duran’s left arm
and shrimping along the fence. Duran works from half-guard with 85
seconds to go in the round. Rivera sweeps, nearly gets mounted, but
instead gives up his back. Duran looks for a rear-naked choke for
the final 30 seconds, but Rivera defends nicely, turning into the
choke.
Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Duran
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Duran
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Duran
Round 3
Duran looks the fresher fighter in the third, sticking Rivera with
rights and left jabs. Rivera lands a crisp leg kick, but Duran
answers with a few of his own. A powerful takedown from Duran lands
him straight in side control on Rivera’s left, where he begins
searching for a crucifix. He gets it momentarily, but Rivera flips,
giving up his back. Duran sinks in a rear-naked choke and quickly
elicits the tap, the end coming officially at 1:57 of the third
round.
Round 1
The southpaw Stone comes out active, flicking out jabs and high
kicks. Jorgensen puts a straight right on his chin and Stone
answers with a clipping right hook of his own. Short left hand from
Jorgensen finds its mark, followed by a hard right. Jorgensen is
controlling the center of the Octagon, pressing out on Stone. Hard
left from Stone, then a kick to the body, then one to the head. The
bantamweights clinch on the cage and Stone finds a knee in the
middle. They disengage and Stone starts putting combinations on
“Young Guns,” who dives for and scores a takedown with two minutes
to go. Stone throws up his legs from underneath, latching onto an
arm and forcing Jorgensen to back out. As Jorgensen dives back in,
Stone almost finds another submission, but Jorgensen threatens a
slam and Stone relents. Jorgensen works from Stone’s guard. A big
right hand turns Stone’s head and the second seals his fate. Stone
is out cold as a pair of follow-up punches land. Referee Steve
Mazzagatti leaps in for the save at the 4:01 mark.
Round 1
Edwards is on the offensive immediately after the glove-touch,
swarming with punches and then clinching Harvison into the cage.
With over-unders, Edwards whips him to the ground, but Harvison is
quickly back up. Edwards puts a nice three-piece on Harvison before
putting him against the cage with another takedown. Harvison uses
the fence to work back up, but is immediately slammed back down.
Edwards grabs for a guillotine as Harvison shrimps. It’s not there,
and Edwards lets his man back up before kneeing Harvison in the
gut. Harvison answers with one of his own and then sprawls on a
single-leg. Edwards’ next shot is successful; he sits in the closed
guard of Harvison momentarily, but Harvison pops back up. Edwards
tries for a trip, misses it and eats punches on the floor, but he
rolls for a leglock. Harvison falls to the mat and Edwards goes
back into his opponent’s closed guard with 90 seconds left.
Harvison locks up an armbar from the bottom and Edwards leans back,
removing the limb. Edwards rolls and looks for an armbar, but
Harvison ends up on top. He tries for a guillotine. Edwards pops
loose and finishes on top.
Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Edwards
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Edwards
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Edwards
Round 2
Edwards lobs a tired low kick and Harvison volleys over the top
with punches. Another one-two finds Edwards’ chin. Edwards clinches
and Harvison drills a knee to the midsection, sprawls on a shot.
Edwards tries to work from the clinch, but is tied up by the taller
Harvison, who defends two more takedown attempts. Harvison is
racking up strikes, putting elbows and knees on Edwards’ ribs.
Edwards backs out and connects with a solid spinning back-kick
before clinching again. Harvison puts Edwards’ back on the cage and
referee Josh Rosenthal tells them to get busy. Both men are slowing
noticeably with two minutes to go in the second, their punches
landing but without much force. They clinch and Harvison puts a
combo on Edwards, causing him to shoot. Harvison defends; Edwards
grazes with another spinning kick and tries another unsuccessful
shot before the end of the frame.
Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Harvison
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Harvison
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Harvison
Round 3
Edwards comes out firing, but gets banged with a two-piece from
Harvison, who sprawls on a shot and tees off some more. Edwards
dives for another takedown, gets sprawled on and eats a knee to the
face. Harvison stands his man back up and trips him to the ground,
where he fires off three or four hard elbows from half-guard.
Edwards regains full guard and throws his legs up for an armbar.
Harvison answers with a solid right hand to the face and uses the
position to take side control. Edwards gets to his feet and lands a
combo, then takes Harvison down. Harvison’s right side is to the
fence with Edwards on his right, grinding his elbow into Harvison’s
face. Knee to the body from Harvison is answered by an Edwards jab.
Edwards scores a takedown with a minute left and takes Harvison’s
back, but slips off with 30 seconds to go. Edwards finishes strong,
holding Harvison against the cage and punching away to the bell in
what should be a very close decision.
Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Edwards (29-28 Edwards)

Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Harvison (29-28 Harvison)

Round 1
Bailey stands and trades for a moment, but ducks under a
combination from McGillivray at the 30 second mark and puts the
Canadian on the floor. Bailey works from side control, driving
knees into McGillivray’s ribs. McGillivray uses his feet to push
off the fence and stands, but Bailey grabs a Thai plum upon
standing and leaps with a few knees up the middle. Nice left hand
from Bailey, who has a single-leg stuffed by McGillivray. The left
eye of McGillivray has begun to swell. Bailey backs up and taunts
McGillivray, trying to get him to come forward. The wrestler rushes
McGillivray and nearly gets taken down, but Bailey winds up on top.
McGillivray has an underhook and twists underneath, trying to keep
guard. Bailey winds up in side control and McGillivray gives up his
back, then rolls through when Bailey tries to take it. Referee
Chris Tognoni tells McGillivray to stand and they resume trading
with less than a minute to go. Bailey scores another takedown at
the horn.
Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Bailey
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Bailey
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Bailey
Round 2
McGillivray is moving quickly at the start of the second, throwing
volume punches as instructed by cornerman Jason MacDonald. He
snuffs a single-leg from Bailey, but the next try sees Shamar put
McGillivray on his back with ease. Bailey tries to pass half-guard,
dropping intermittent punches and elbows. Bailey lays a forearm
across McGillivray’s throat and McGillivray rolls, putting Bailey
back in closed guard. Bailey stands and dives back down with a hard
right hand. He shucks the legs of McGillivray and takes side
control in the center of the cage. For the second time in the
fight, McGillivray flattens out and grabs at a brabo choke from
underneath. Instead, he turtles while Bailey punches to the head
and knees at McGillivray’s side. McGillivray’s foot becomes trapped
in Bailey’s trunks and Tognoni frees it. Bailey closes out the
round on top.
Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Bailey
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Bailey
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Bailey
Round 3
McGillivray has a head kick blocked, lands a follow-up left hook,
and then gets taken down. He springs back up, but Bailey slams him
down again and lands in side control on McGillivray’s left. Bailey
tries to trap the left arm, but McGillivray gets it loose and
turtles again. Bailey shoves him into the cage and punches away;
Tognoni warns him not to hit the back of McGillivray’s head.
McGillivray stands and Bailey grabs a guillotine with three minutes
to go. He doesn’t have the angle on the taller McGillivray and lets
it go. Back on the feet, McGillivray is throwing heavier shots than
the spent Bailey, but Bailey nonetheless executes another takedown.
Bailey leans from McGillivray’s left to right and grinds away with
punches. McGillivray gets to his feet and throws his hands up in
frustration. Bailey responds by going for another takedown, and
that’s where it ends.

Round 1
Without a touch of gloves, Grispi comes straight forward and puts
Roop’s back to the fence. Roop drives a few hard elbows to the head
of Grispi before being double-legged to the canvas. Roop sits with
his back to the fence while Grispi controls his wrists and looks to
mount. Grispi doesn’t mount, but does take control of Roop’s right
side with control of Roop’s left arm. Knees to the body by Grispi
are followed by a guillotine attempt. Roop stands and frees
himself, delivering more nasty elbows as he’s taken down again. Ref
Herb Dean warns Grispi to keep the elbows away from the back of
Roop’s head. Grispi takes mount halfway through the round, grabs at
another guillotine, and quickly lets it go. Roop uses the cage to
work back up, but is still pressed against it by Grispi.
Nonetheless, Roop is the more active fighter, landing short elbows
along with punches and knees to the midsection. Roop shucks Grispi
off, but “The Fluke” is right back on him. Roop reverses him into
the cage, where Grispi jumps guard with a minute to go. The guard
is open and Roops stacks him up, punching away with a dozen or more
unanswered blows to the end of the round.
Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Roop
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Roop
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Roop
Round 2
Roop puts Grispi on his back with a front kick to the gut and gives
chase to the floor. He shoves Grispi into the cage, where Grispi
slows the action with wrist control. Roop’s length allows him to
get enough space to land short shots and elbows from guard anyhow.
Grispi is offering nothing but defensive grappling in reply as he
attempts to roll free. Roop won’t allow it, going back into
Grispi’s closed guard with 90 seconds on the clock. Roop is pouring
on the punishment down the stretch, banging Grispi up with strikes
from guard whenever he can get his hands free.
Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Roop
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Roop
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-8 Roop
Round 3
Grispi tries a lazy body kick and eats a counter right. Roop comes
forward with a three-punch combo followed by a pair of kicks to the
body. Takedown for Grispi inside the first minute, but Roop is back
up within 20 seconds. Grispi gives chase and puts Roop down on the
fence, but his face remains buried while Roop punches away. Ref
Herb Dean stops the action twice inside of a minute for Grispi to
reinsert his mouthguard, then warns the Massachusetts native to
keep it in. When they resume, Roop tees off with a flurry of
punches and kicks. The last one in the combo is a shin across the
thighs; Grispi says he was hit low and Dean allows him a few
seconds to recover. Roop smells blood and comes forward. A big
right hand to the breadbasket puts Grispi on his back and Dean
steps in to save the exhausted fighter from more damage. The
official time of stoppage is 3:14 in round three.
Round 1
Stephens presses forward early and puts Downes’ back on the fence.
They split and clinch in the center of the cage, where Downes puts
Stephens on the cage and defends a takedown. Stephens digs an
uppercut to the ribs and a right hand over the top, then another
one-two as Downes backs into the fence. Downes reverses the
position, but takes a knee to the ribs upon exit. Stephens is
racking up low kicks as he looks for a right-hand haymaker over the
top. The smaller Stephens appears the stronger fighter as he
muscles Downes around the perimeter in the clinch, hitting with
knees up the middle. Downes breaks free and tries some leg kicks of
his own, eliciting a “come on” wave from Stephens. Another crisp
uppercut-hook combo lands for Stephens, followed by another right
hand that wobbles Downes. Another leg kick from Stephens and then a
left hook. Downes tries to reverse the momentum, but only manages a
few kicks before the end of the round.
Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Stephens
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Stephens
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Stephens
Round 2
Stephens starts the round with an outside thigh kick and a left
hook that rattles Downes’ head. The Roufusport fighter catches a
leg kick from Stephens and pushes him into the fence, but it’s
Stephens who reverses and scores with a trip takedown. Downes has
an arm-in guillotine from his back, but Stephens isn’t concerned,
waits it out and extracts his head. Stephens stands and takes side
control on Downes’ right. He leans across and wrenches Downes’ left
arm behind his back, but Downes won’t tap. They roll once, twice
and Downes still refuses to relent, despite the unnatural angle his
limb is bent at. Stephens finally gives up the lock and blasts
Downes with a few hard forearms to the jaw. Downes, undeterred,
stands back up and goes toe-to-toe with Stephens, but soon
thereafter catches “Lil’ Heathen” with a kick to the cup. Stephens
recovers and referee Steve Mazzagatti calls time-in with about a
minute to go. Stephens lands another right uppercut, then one over
the top, and gets a takedown with 30 seconds left. He takes the
back of Downes, who stands and takes a knee to the face before the
horn.
Mike Fridley scores the round 10-9 Stephens
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Stephens
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Stephens
Round 3
It’s another quick takedown for Stephens early in the final frame,
but Downes is right back up. When he stands, though, “Danny Boy” is
streaming blood from the corner of his left eye as he’s shoved into
the fence. Stephens tries a double-leg, can’t get it, and instead
throws Downes over his shoulder and runs him across the cage before
slamming him to the ground. His face now covered in red, Downes
stands, but can’t escape the clinch of Stephens, who takes him
right back down. Each time Downes stands, he absorbs another hard
knee to the face. Downes finally gets away from Stephens in the
final two minutes, but is taken back down around the 90 second
mark. Downes is throwing up legs, angling for a come-from-behind
submission as time ticks down, but Stephens is all over him. He
takes Downes’ back and locks in a rear-naked choke; Downes appears
to consider tapping, but time expires before he does.
Mike Fridley scores the round 10-8 Stephens (30-26 Stephens)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-8 Stephens (30-26 Stephens)
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Stephens (30-27 Stephens)

Round 1
Both men come out swinging hard, Cope with left hooks and O’Neil
with leg kicks. O’Neil puts Cope on the fence, drives few knees to
the body and then breaks off. Cope misses with a Superman punch and
follows up with a chopping leg kick. O’Neil whiffs on a huge right
high kick. Cope circles the outside, pumping his jab to the head
and body. A big counter left hook from Cope zaps O’Neil, but “Cold
Steel” stays up. Cope ducks in for a combo and catches a right
hand. Cope scores repeatedly with jabs to the body, leg kicks and
then a spinning back-kick that pushes O’Neil away. Left head kick
by Cope is deflected and answered with a hard body kick by O’Neil.

O’Neil goes back to his leg kicks to start the second, adding a
stiff right jab to the equation. Cope answers with some low kicks
and the pair briefly clinch along the cage. Cope keeps O’Neil at
range with a sweeping left hand and inside thigh kicks, every once
in a while backing him up with a spinning kick. Cope is scoring at
will with leg kicks and now O’Neil is having trouble finding the
range. Cope finishes strong with low kicks inside and wrecking-ball
right hands over the top.
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Cope
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Cope
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Cope
Round 3
Cope is whipping kicks inside and out to the reddened legs of
O’Neil. He clinches and O’Neil reverses Cope into the fence, but
Cope slips loose. Cope still looks fresh, using good head movement
and footwork to duck in and tenderize O’Neil with kicks and punches
to the gut. O’Neil tries to slow him down in the clinch, but can’t
execute the single-leg on the cage. They jockey for position with
over-unders, Cope scoring with knees and short strikes. They split
and Cope pours on the combinations. A spinning backfist finds its
target on O’Neil’s chin. Cope is throwing nonstop two- and
three-punch combos mixed with leg kicks, attacking O’Neil down to
the final horn.
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Cope (30-27 Cope)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Cope (30-27 Cope)
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Cope (30-27 Cope)

Round 1
Maldonado is sporting a shiner beneath his right eye before the
fight begins. Kingsbury gets the Thai clinch and drives half a
dozen knees to the Brazilian’s midsection, most of which are
deflected, and one to the head. Kingsbury’s body kicks have already
marked up Maldonado’s right side. The American follows another knee
to the head with a takedown, but Maldonado snares a guillotine
choke on the way down. It looks bad for a moment, but Kingsbury
shakes himself loose and stands back up. Maldonado is the aggressor
now, pushing forward on Kingsbury and clipping him with left hands.
Kingsbury has slowed his pace midway through the round and now eats
another two-piece. The light heavyweights stand in the pocket
trading blows, Maldonado getting the better with punches to the
head and body. Kingsbury gets a trip takedown into half-guard with
a minute left. Maldonado keeps active with short punches to the
body, but Kingsbury responds with hard, short elbows. Maldonado
scrambles to his feet off a failed kimura attempt and blasts
Kingsbury’s body with punches. Nice knees from Kingsbury in the
waning seconds; he slips on one just before the horn and it ends
there.
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Kingsbury
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Maldonado
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-10
Round 2
Kingsbury ducks under a punch and drives Maldonado down, but the
Brazilian sweeps beautifully from half-guard and they’re back to
trading on the feet. The next shot from Kingsbury is stuffed. He
clinches and looks for knees, but it’s Maldonado swinging uppercuts
to Kingsbury’s ribs in close quarters. Now Kingsbury gets off a few
knees and tries to trip Maldonado down. Kingsbury falls to the mat
and Maldonado motions for him to stand. He does and Maldonado
continues coming forward, but is soon taken down by Kingsbury.
Another guillotine attempt from Maldonado allows him to sweep and
stand. Kingsbury clinches and Maldonado motions to referee Chris
Tognoni, wanting a restart. Maldonado gets his own, exiting the
clinch with a knee. Maldonado finishes with a leg kick and winging

Kingsbury replies to the taunting with a takedown from which
Maldonado pops right back up. They clinch on the fence with
Kingsbury delivering knees to the gut. Kingsbury has a bleeding
mouse under his left eye, which is swollen badly. Maldonado keeps
coming forward, sticking the slowing Kingsbury with frustrating
left hands. Kingsbury clinches up and Maldonado looks for a
single-leg that is defended. It’s back to walking Kingsbury down
for Maldonado, who blocks a trip and winds up atop Kingsbury. After
a moment of Kingsbury nullifying the action with rubber guard, the
ref stands them up. Maldonado defends a takedown, but absorbs a few
more knees to the body. The Brazilian pauses to replace his
mouthguard, defends another takedown, and scores one of his own
just before the end.

swings wild combos. Herman ties up and drops Credeur with a hard
right uppercut. He shucks Credeur’s legs and pours on the punches,
turning out the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt’s lights. Further
punches wake Credeur back up, but referee Herb Dean has seen enough
and calls a halt to the contest after only 48 seconds.
Round 1
Guida bounces frantically in front of Pettis, who taps the
“Carpenter” with a one-two and backs him up with a head kick. Guida
grabs an outside thigh kick and puts Pettis on his back, where the
former WEC champ throws up a high guard. Guida extracts his arm and
stacks Pettis up, but Pettis controls Guida’s wrists. Guida’s shots
from on top are mostly missing while Pettis’ punches from his back
find their marks. Pettis kicks Guida off and jumps to his feet;
Guida doesn’t give “Showtime” space to break out his striking
arsenal, depositing Pettis at the base of the cage. Pettis
continues controlling the wrists and throws up a triangle which
Guida shakes quickly. Guida passes to half-guard in the final 30
seconds, but can’t manage more than shoulder strikes for offense as
Pettis wraps him up.
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Pettis
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-10
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-10

has a waistlock, but mounts no offense for a solid 90 seconds, only
trying to advance position as Pettis uses the cage to stand. Good,
wide base from Pettis, who uses an underhook to neutralize Guida’s
takedown. Finally, Pettis breaks loose and socks Guida with a crisp
two-punch combo. Head kick from Pettis grazes Guida’s mane. Pettis
misses with a flashy spinning back-kick which sees him use the cage
to launch. Guida gets a takedown with 50 seconds left in the frame.

round. Pettis closes up guard and looks for an armbar while Guida
bucks and flails atop him. Guida slams his shoulder into Pettis
while controlling the younger fighter’s head and arm from
half-guard. The shots don’t appear to be doing much, but they’re
preventing referee Steve Mazzagatti from issuing a standup. Pettis
gets to his feet and nearly gets taken down again, but he sweeps
and winds up on Guida’s back. Pettis has both hooks in and drives
hard right hands to the side of Guida’s head. Pettis rides too high
and Guida slips out the backdoor with under a minute remaining in
the fight. Guida gets on Pettis’ back and sinks in both hooks, and
that’s where it ends.

kicks to the body. Ferguson begins finding his range with lead left
hooks. Nijem swarms with a wild combo and gets sprawled on by
Ferguson, who stands and chops away with a few inside thigh kicks.

lands a left hook that takes Nijem’s legs out from beneath him. A
follow-up right hand from “El Cucuy” puts Nijem to sleep and
referee Josh Rosenthal peels Ferguson off his unconscious opponent.
The finish comes at 3:54 of the opening frame and Ferguson is named
the 13th-season winner of “The Ultimate Fighter.”
