Shinya Aoki to Challenge Kotetsu Boku for Lightweight Belt at One FC 8 ‘Kings and Champions’

Shinya Aoki will get his crack at One Fighting Championship gold on April 5, when the submission ace takes on lightweight ruler Kotetsu Boku at One FC 8 “Kings and Champions.”

One FC officials recently announced the booking, which takes place at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. No other bouts have been announced for the show, but the event is expected to stream live via online pay-per-view.

Aoki, 29, has won nine of his last 10 fights, with his lone loss in that span coming via first-round technical knockout in his April rematch with ex-Bellator champion Eddie Alvarez. The “Tobikan Judan” was last seen on New Year’s Eve, forcing onetime UFC competitor Antonio McKee to tap out after catching the 42-year-old with a crisp right hook under the eye just 24 seconds into round two.

Boku captured the One FC lightweight strap in his most recent outing, finishing Zorobabel Moreira with strikes early in the third round of their championship clash at One FC 6 this past October. The win marked the 20th career triumph for Boku, who was previously unsuccessful in his bid to win the Shooto 154-pound title against Kuniyoshi Hironaka in July 2011.
