An injury has forced Sarah Kaufman to withdraw from her Oct. 6 Invicta FC 3 bantamweight bout with Kaitlin Young at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, according to Invicta FC officials.
This marks the first time that Kaufman has had to pull out of a fight, but she’s still looking forward to a future showdown with Young.
“It will happen one day and when it does it will be epic! I’ll still be there 100% cheering you on,” Kaufman tweeted on Monday.
The promotion quickly shifted gears, shuffling Leslie Smith, who was already slated for the card, from her bout into the fight with Young, setting up a rematch between the two. Smith and Young fought to a split draw at Invicta FC 1 back in April of this year.
Up-and-coming bantamweight Raquel Pennington now steps in to take Smith’s place against Kim Connor-Hamby.
Both seasoned strikers, Young and Smith engaged in an all-out slugfest for three rounds at the inaugural Invicta FC event, before a draw was declared. Young and Smith were awarded “Fight of the Night” honors and the possibility of a rematch has since been a hot topic of discussion.
