Sanchez-Kampmann, Dollaway-Munoz Slated for UFC Live 3

A source close to the Sanchez camp has confirmed to Sherdog.com that a Sanchez-Kampmann headliner is in the works for the third UFC effort on Versus. MMA Junkie was first to report the bout Wednesday. No city or venue have surfaced for the slated event as yet.

Sanchez comes fresh off an inspired performance against Brazilian welterweight Paulo Thiago at UFC 121. Sanchez weathered early offense from Thiago and wore his larger foe down, earning a hard-fought unanimous decision in the evening’s “Fight of the Night.”

The fight was the second since Sanchez’s return to the welterweight division. He was bested by British prospect John Hathaway in his 170-pound return this past May.

A winner in four of his last six bouts, Kampmann’s last trip inside the Octagon saw him drop a razor-thin split decision loss at the hands of Jake Shields, also at UFC 121 in October. Prior to the loss to Shields, the 28-year-old Kampmann had taken back-to-back victories over Jacob Volkmann and Paulo Thiago in 2010.

Sherdog.com has also confirmed with sources close to the fight that Dollaway and Munoz will square off on the main card of the event in 185-pound action.

At UFC 123 in November, Munoz, 32, hammered out a well-earned unanimous decision win over fellow former NCAA standout wrestler Aaron Simpson, a teammate of Dollaway’s. The 27-year-old Dollaway has won three straight, his last victory coming over Canadian journeyman Joe Doerksen with an impressive first-round guillotine choke at UFC 119 in September.
