Ronda Rousey confirms 'Fast & Furious 7' role, films before UFC 168

ronda-rousey-29.jpgAfter months of rumors, UFC women’s bantamweight champion has confirmed she’s landed a role in the seventh installment of the “Fast & Furious” film franchise.

Additionally, she’s announced she’ll film her latest role on the tale end of her current work on “The Expendables 3.”

The filming is expect to conclude in mid-November and ahead of her UFC 168 co-headliner, title fight and rematch with Miesha Tate (13-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC), whom she coached opposite on the currently airing FOX Sports 1 series, “The Ultimate Fighter 18.” That leaves Rousey (7-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) less than two months of prep for her fight, which takes place Dec. 28 and airs on pay-per-view from Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena.

As Rousey announced via Twitter: “Its finally official. After #expenables3 I’m flying to Altanta to shoot #fast7 before going back to LA for 6 week camp and defending my title.

“&for those that doubt it can be done, put ur money where ur mouths are so my friends can finally get some decent returns betting on me to win.”

Rousey hasn’t fought since a UFC-debut win and title defense over Liz Carmouche at UFC 157 in February. Although her final prep will last half the time as a normal three-month camp, she trained often on “TUF 18,” which was recorded over the summer. She said she’s also worked some training sessions into her schedule while on set of “The Expendables 3,” an action flick that features a host of notables, including Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Randy Couture and others. It’s slated for a summer 2014 release.

“Fast & Furious 7,” meanwhile, is the latest installment of the lucrative action series. It’s set to bring back stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, all of who were in “Fast & Furious 6? and “Fast Five.” Statham is set to appear, as well.
