Ronda Rousey Spits Fire at Presser in Brazil to Promote Fight with Bethe Correia

Ronda Rousey Spits Fire at Presser in Brazil to Promote Fight with Bethe Correia

Ronda Rousey and her UFC 190 opponent, Bethe Correia, showed just how much they don't like each other when they appeared at a media event Friday in Brazil.

At the UFC 189 media event, the two promoted their upcoming bout, alongside Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor.

Fielding questions from reporters, Rousey flat-out vowed revenge on Correia.

"I would definitely say this is a personal fight," she said. "Bethe is going to have her own 'come to Jesus meeting' down here in Brazil. ... I'm happy to come down here and entertain you guys while I discipline this girl."

When asked about Correia's propensity for public call-outs, Rousey was downright fiery in her response.

"I understand Bethe's tactics, and I understand why she went about things as she did. ... The fact is, in order to get a title shot as quickly as possible, she disrespected my friends, which I consider my family. And if you f--k with my family, you are f-----d."

The heat, of course, stems from Correia's recent UFC bouts opposite Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler.

Duke and Baszler (alongside former judoka Marina Shafir) are part of Rousey's "Four Horsewomen" team, a group of Rousey's training partners and proteges that formed following The Ultimate Fighter season 18.

Correia battered Duke at UFC 172 last year and followed that up with a knockout victory over Baszler at UFC 177.

She has been calling out the champ ever since, and while she is yet to beat a ranked opponent, there is little doubt that this is a potential blockbuster of a fight.

Also at the presser, Rousey let slip that the UFC has booked a bout between former rival Miesha Tate and up-and-coming Bellator alum Jessica Eye. While Rousey initially said the fight also would take place at UFC 190, UFC President Dana White later clarified that the bout was in fact planned for June. Its most likely landing spots are UFC 188 in Mexico City or UFC Fight Night 68 in New Orleans.

Rousey vs. Correia is booked for UFC 190, which is scheduled for Aug. 1 in Rio de Janeiro.

The card also will feature a light heavyweight rematch between Pride alumni Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
