A bantamweight matchup between Rodrigo Lima (10-1 MMA, 0-1 BFC) and Ronnie Mann (21-5-1 MMA, 3-2 BFC) is the fourth and final main-card matchup for this week’s Bellator 94 event.
Bellator MMA officials today announced the new booking.
“Bellator 94: Awad vs. Rickels” takes place Thursday at Sun Dome at the University of South Florida in Tampa. The main card airs on Spike TV following prelims on Spike.com.
The evening’s main event is a 155-pound Season 8 tournament final between Saad Awad (14-4 MMA, 2-1 BFC) and David Rickels (13-1 MMA, 7-1 BFC). The co-feature is the light heavyweight tournament’s final between Emanuel Newton (20-7-1 MMA, 3-1 BFC) and Mikhail Zayats (21-6 MMA, 2-0 BFC).
Mann makes the move to bantamweight after a lengthy run at 145 pounds that included failed bids at Bellator’s Season 6 and 2011 Summer Series featherweight tournaments. Mann also boasts previous stints with Sengoku, Shark Fights and Cage Rage, among others. Most recently, he was knocked out of Bellator’s Season 6 featherweight tournament with a decision loss to Mike Corey at Bellator 60 in April 2012.
Meanwhile, “Ratinho” Lima looks to bounce back from a disappointing loss to Hioshi Nakamura in the opening round of Bellator’s Season 6 bantamweight tourney. Prior to the loss, Lima had enjoyed an undefeated record and was touted as a top Brazilian prospect.
With the addition, the Bellator 94 lineup now includes:
MAIN CARD (Spike TV, 10 p.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike.com, 8 p.m. ET)
