Ricardo Mayorga’s controversial victory over Wesley Tiffer at Omega MMA 8 on May 3 in Managua, Nicaragua was overturned to a "No Contest" after the Nicaraguan Mixed Martial Arts Commission deemed the winning knee strike to the spine illegal. He’s also suspended for three months for being 20 pounds over the contracted weight limit of 165-lbs.
Boxer Mayorga was dominated by Tiffer the entire fight, and was nearly submitted with a triangle-armbar in the second round when suddenly “El Matador” landed a knee strike to the spine of his opponent. Tiffer immediately let go of the submission hold and held his back in pain and even screamed. However Mayorga was declared as the winner that night.
