Report: UFC Lightweight Reza Madadi Arrested in Sweden on Suspicion of Burglary

UFC lightweight Reza Madadi was arrested Friday in Sweden after allegedly burglarizing a designer handbag store, according to a report from Swedish tabloid Expressen.

Madadi and two associates allegedly made off with roughly $150,000 in stolen bags. Those actions were reportedly caught by a security camera, and an alarm sounded just after 5 a.m. on Friday. According to the report, several limited edition bags were allegedly stolen from a display that was separate from the store proper. Madadi denies the charges levied against him, according to the report.

An Iranian-born Swede, Madadi, 32, began his mixed martial arts career in 2006 and posted 11 wins in his first 13 outings en route to capturing the Superior Challenge lightweight title in 2011. “Mad Dog” made his Octagon debut the following year at UFC on Fuel TV 2, where he submitted previously unbeaten Yoislandy Izquierdo with a second-round guillotine choke.

Since his auspicious UFC foray, Madadi has gone 1-1, falling in a split decision to “The Ultimate Fighter 15” alum Cristiano Marcello to close out last year before kicking off 2013 with a third-round submission of “TUF 12” finalist Michael Johnson last month at UFC on Fuel TV 9. Madadi owns eight of his 13 career victories by way of submission and has never been stopped in more than six years as a pro.
