Report: Middleweights Mark Munoz, Michael Bisping Set for Oct. 26 Bout in Manchester

A pivotal showdown between Top 10 middleweights Mark Munoz and Michael Bisping is expected to headline an Ultimate Fighting Championship card in Manchester on Oct. 26.

MMAJunkie.com first reported the booking on Friday, although the promotion has yet to announce the matchup. The UFC was last in England for UFC on Fuel TV 7, which took place at Wembley Arena in London. The Las Vegas-based organization has not been to Manchester since Nov. 14, 2009, when Randy Couture vs. Brandon Vera headlined UFC 105.

After nearly a year-long hiatus, Munoz made a successful return to the Octagon at UFC 162, utilizing his vicious ground-and-pound to earn a unanimous verdict against Tim Boetsch. Prior to that victory, “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” had a four-fight winning streak halted in brutal fashion, as he was knocked out in the second round by current middleweight king Chris Weidman at UFC on Fuel TV 4.

Like Munoz, Bisping also recently rebounded from a devastating knockout loss. After falling victim to a Vitor Belfort head kick at UFC on FX 7 in January, “The Count” captured a technical decision over Alan Belcher at UFC 159. The Manchester native has won six of his last eight fights in the UFC.
