Report: Brandon Thatch vs. Sabah Homasi headed for year-end UFC 207 card in Las Vegas

The UFC’s year-end pay-per-view in Las Vegas continues to grow with the addition of a welterweight bout to the lineup.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Sabah Homasi (11-6 MMA, 0-1 UFC) is set to take on Brandon Thatch (11-4 MMA, 2-3 UFC) in December at UFC 207. UFC officials have not yet made a formal announcement of the booking.

UFC 207 takes place Dec. 30, a Friday, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass. In the main event, former champion Ronda Rousey will make her long-awaited return to take on new women’s bantamweight titleholder Amanda Nunes.

Thatch is in desperate need of a victory. After starting his UFC tenure with back-to-back first-round knockouts, including a bonus-winning stoppage of Justin Edwards in his debut, he has suffered three-straight submission losses, all by chokes. Benson Henderson tapped him out in the UFC Fight Night 60 main event in February 2015. Later taht year, Gunnar Nelson tapped him in the first rounad at UFC 189. And at UFC 196 earlier this year in Las Vegas, he had to tap to an arm-triangle choke from Siyar Bahadurzada.

Homasi made his promotional debut in August at UFC 202 on short notice against Tim Means, but was stopped with a second-round TKO against the veteran fighter on the main card. Homasi had stepped in for an injured Sean Strickland about two weeks before the event. Prior to that loss, the Bellator and Strikeforce veteran had a three-fight winning streak of knockouts, including two under the Titan FC banner.
