Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans, coming off of a loss to current champion Jon Jones at UFC 145 in April of this year, had hoped to be back in the Octagon sometime soon, but it looks like that’s not going to happen. At least, not by the end of 2012.
With Jones nursing an injured elbow from his fight with Vitor Belfort and stepping into a coaching role on TUF 17, Dan Henderson in the midst of rehab, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua lined up to face Alexander Gustafsson, and Forrest Griffin squaring off with Phil Davis, there aren’t many options left on the table for Evans before 2013.
On Evan’s wish list, however, is an interesting name… Anderson Silva.
There are many other fighters lined up that want a crack at Silva first, however, so it’s unlikely that Evans will get that shot any time soon, but he says it is a “dream fight” for him.
