It appears Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson has his final fight in the Octagon and it won’t be an easy test by any means.
According to UFC officials who confirmed through Sportv in Brazil, Jackson will facing rising light heavyweight star Glover Teixeira at UFC 153 in Brazil.
The event is currently scheduled for the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro on October 13.
Much has been made about Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and his desire to leave the UFC after the final fight on his current deal expires.
Jackson has gone back and forth with the UFC mainly via Twitter and has been very vocal about his wish to have one more fight and then part ways with the promotion.
The former light heavyweight champion has lost his last two bouts in the Octagon dropping to current 205lb king Jon Jones and then losing a unanimous decision to Ryan Bader in February.
Helping to say goodbye to Rampage in Brazil will be one of the top prospects at 205lbs, Glover Teixeira.
A veteran of many fights, Teixeira was one of the most sought after fighters not under the UFC banner until the promotion finally snapped him up earlier this year and he did not disappoint in his first performance.
Teixeira made short work of former Ultimate Fighter competitor Kyle Kingsbury, and now looks to add a former UFC light heavyweight champion to his resume of wins.
The bout between Jackson and Teixeira is the first confirmed fight for the UFC 153 card headed to Brazil in October.
