RFA 27 video highlights: Despite this nasty gash, Jesse Brock wins main event

It didn’t come easily, and he had to overcame a nasty gash above his left eye, but Jesse Brock emerged victorious in Friday’s RFA 27 main event.

The event, which included an AXS TV-televised main card and a slate of untelevised amateur bouts, took place at CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho. It marked the organization’s debut in the state.

In the bantamweight headliner, local fighter Brock (21-8) apparently didn’t do enough to earn himself a title shot, but against Joe Murphy (8-3), he overcame the deep gash and used a well-balanced attack to earn the decision victory. Brock, a former Bellator fighter who made his RFA debut at the event, has now won five consecutive fights and seven of his past eight. He’ll likely to get a title eliminator in his next fight.

Also on the card, lightweight Stephen Martinez (11-3) picked up his seventh victory in eight fights after forcing a tap from Darrell Flores (4-4) with a first-round guillotine choke. Nine of his 11 wins have now come via submission.

Additionally, local product Scott Thometz (8-4) looked dazzling in a 30-second knockout win over fellow featherweight Daniel Swain (12-5-1).

Check out the full highlights above.
