Gary ShawCORAL CABLES, Fla. — Weigh-ins for “EliteXC: Street Certified” took place today poolside at the Holiday Inn in Coral Gables, Fla.

A total of 22 fighters, including headliners Tank Abbott and Kimbo Slice, hit the scales in preparation of Saturday’s 11-fight event, which takes place at the University of Miami’s BankUnited Center. The preliminary card kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on ProElite.com, and the main card will be carried by Showtime at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

A number of MMA celebrities, most notably UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, were among the couple hundred attendees at today’s weigh-ins.

All fighters made weight, though middleweight Kyle Noke and welterweight Mikey Gomez each needed additional time. All fighters who fail to make weight on the first try are allowed an additional two hours. Additionally, unlike other state commissions, the Florida State Athletic Commission does not give fighters a one-pound allowance when weighing in.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) will be on hand for Saturday’s event and will have live results and round-by-round updates posted throughout the evening. Be sure to join us for the event coverage and live discussion with fellow MMAjunkie.com readers.
