Paul Daley Pulled from Friday Night's Bellator 163 Card | MMAWeekly.com

Bellator officials pulled Paul Daley from its Bellator 163 fight card slated for Friday night in Uncasville, Conn.

Although he made weight on Thursday, Daley apparently had a rough weight cut. The decision to pull him from his fight with Derek Anderson at the last minute was made by Bellator in conjunction with the Mohegan Athletic Commission, which oversees the event.

Paul Daley at Strike/ Elite XC“After a difficult weight cut, we, along with Mike Mazzulli from the Mohegan Athletic Commission, made the decision to pull Paul Daley from tonight’s event as a precautionary measure,” Bellator president Scott Coker told MMAFighting.com, who first reported Daley’s removal from the fight. “Fighter safety is of the utmost importance to us here at Bellator.”

Daley’s removal marks the second Bellator 163 main card bout to be nixed because of a weigh-in issue. Talita Nogueira was approximately 5.5 pounds over the 146-pound limit for her fight with Marloes Coenen. Coenen, a former Strikeforce champion, made weight and will reportedly be paid her show money, but their fight was canceled.

Bellator officials confirmed Daley’s removal to MMAWeekly.com, noting that a preliminary bout between Neiman Gracie and Rudy Bears has been promoted to Friday night’s main card on Spike TV.
