One FC 7 Card Features Kojima-Docyogen Title Eliminator, 4th Bantamweight Quarterfinal

The matchup, which will determine a No. 1 contender for the vacant One FC flyweight title, was announced today by the Singapore-based promotion. Headlining the Feb. 2 card at Stadium Putra in Kuala Lumpur is the company’s inaugural featherweight title bout between countrymen Honorio Banario and Eric Kelly of the Philippines.

Once the world’s top-ranked flyweight, Kojima vacated his Shooto belt in 2010 after a career-threatening knee injury. Since returning last August, the 33-year-old has struggled to regain his top form but has nonetheless compiled a 2-1 record, most recently dropping a March decision to Korean youngster Nam Jin Jo. February’s bout will mark Kojima’s first fight in a cage and his first foray outside of Shooto since 2005.

Docyogen is the reigning pinweight (119-pound) champion of URCC and has recorded all 10 of his wins with the Filipino promotion. The wushu practitioner, who trains alongside Banario at Lakay MMA, fought just once in 2012, finishing the overmatched Rodel Orais with a first-round kimura.

Also confirmed for One FC 7 was a bantamweight tournament quarterfinal pitting Ryan Diaz against Thanh Vu; the winner of that bout will join Jens Pulver, Masakatsu Ueda and Kevin Belingon in the semifinals. At lightweight, South African kickboxer Vuyisile Colossa will face Hawaiian upsetter Lowen Tynanes, who comes off a surprise win over Eduard Folayang.
