The card is complete for “ONE FC 9: Rise to Power” with the addition of three preliminary card fights.
Felipe Enomoto (6-5) meets Lowen Tynanes (4-0) in a lightweight bout; former UFC heavyweight champ Tim Sylvia (31-8) takes on Tony Johnson (6-1); and Ryan Diaz (13-13) fights Yusup Saadulaev (9-3) in a bantamweight contest. ONE FC officials announced the addition of the fights late Tuesday.
ONE FC 9 takes place May 31 at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Philippines. It main card streams via online pay-per-view, with the three prelim fights being offered for free via stream beforehand.
Enomoto has lost two straight and four of five. His lone win in that stretch was a second-round submission win over Ole Laursen at ONE FC 2. But since then, he has dropped back-to-back fights to Zorobabel Moreira at ONE FC 3 and Eduard Folayang at ONE FC 5. Tynanes, a native of Hawaii, will try to stay unbeaten. He won his ONE FC debut in February with submission of Vuyisile Colossa at ONE FC 7, and his resume also includes a win over Folayang.
Sylvia returns to the ONE FC banner after a controversial no contest against Andrei Arlovski in August at ONE FC 5 when Arlovski kicked him in the face. Though soccer kicks were allowed, Arlovski hadn’t been given the OK from the referee that he could engage his downed opponent with a kick. In December, Sylvia lost to Satoshi Ishii in Japan. Johnson, whose only loss came to Daniel Cormier, has won two straight. But his most recent fight, a Bellator win over Derrick Lewis, came nearly two years ago.
Diaz most recently fought nearly three years ago when he suffered a loss to Chris Gruetzemacher on a Strikeforce Challengers show. With just four fights in the past five years, the 34-year-old Diaz is 1-3 in that stretch. Saadulaev, a DREAM veteran, has dropped two straight, both under the ONE FC banner. In April, he lost a decision to Leandro Issa at ONE FC 8. That came after a TKO loss to Kevin Belingon at ONE FC 6 in October.
