Next month’s “ONE FC 9: Rise to Power” card has three new additions, including the final of the organization’s world bantamweight grand prix.
The event, which also features two previously announced title fights, takes place May 31 at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Philippines. It streams via online pay-per-view.
In the tourney final, Kevin Belingon (11-2) meets Masakatsu Ueda (17-2-2). Belingon, a Filipino fighter, advance to the final with back-to-back TKO wins over Yusup Saadulaev and Thanh Vu. He meets Ueda, a former Shooto champ and onetime Bellator fighter. The Japanese fighter advanced to the grand prix’s final bout following a submission win over Min Jung Song and a submission victory over former UFC champ Jens Pulver.
In a lightweight bout, Eduard Folayang (12-3), the reigning URCC welterweight champion, looks to snap out of a 1-2 skid when he meets UFC and WEC vet Kamal Shalorus (7-3-2), who hopes to end a three-fight skid that followed an undefeated (7-0-2) start to his career.
Finally, UFC vet Phil Baroni (15-16) meets fellow welterweight slugger Nobutatsu Suzuki (9-1-2). Baroni is just 2-6 since late 2008, but one of his wins came via TKO over Rodrigo Ribeiro at ONE FC 5. He meets Suzuki, who posted nine knockouts in his first nine career wins before a submission loss to Keita Nakamura back in December.
