UFC President Dana White announced the news Saturday via Twitter. The Octagon boss confirmed the promotion is currently seeking a replacement opponent for Franklin.
Headlined by a light heavyweight rematch between former champions Tito Ortiz and Rashad Evans, UFC 133 goes down Aug. 6 from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Ortiz stepped up on short notice to face Evans after Phil Davis -- who was himself an injury replacement for UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones -- withdrew with a knee injury.
Nogueira (Pictured; file photo), 35, recently suffered back-to-back losses for the first time in his decade-long career. After beginning his UFC stint with consecutive wins, the Pride Fighting Championships veteran was outpointed by a pair of wrestlers in his next two bouts -- first to Ryan Bader at UFC 119 in September, then to Davis at UFC Fight Night 24 in March.
