Fox on Monday announced a new prefight preview series entitled UFC’s Road to the Octagon.
Similar to UFC Primetime, UFC’s Road to the Octagon takes viewers through the history behind the fighters and their preparations leading up to their fights on Fox. While Primetime is a three-part, 30-minutes per episode series, Road to the Octagon is a single one-hour episode for each UFC on Fox event.
The first UFC’s Road to the Octagon features an in-depth look at Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Brandon Vera, and the other fighters on UFC on Fox 4’s main card, slated for Saturday, Aug. 4 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The UFC on Fox 4 special will air Sunday, July 29 at 2 p.m. ET.
The second UFC’s Road to the Octagon will focus on the fighters slated for Saturday, Dec. 8, which will presumably be UFC on Fox 5, although no location or competitors have been announced.
The UFC on Fox 5 special will air Sunday, Dec. 2 opposite local NFL on Fox coverage at either 3 p.m. ET or 4:30 p.m. ET depending on the NFL game in a particular area.
The UFC on Fox 4 and UFC on Fox 5 Road to the Octagon specials were the only episodes announced thus far. Neither Fox nor UFC officials announced whether or not there was a commitment to continue doing the specials beyond these last two Fox events in 2012.
