Mickey Gall Taps Out Sage Northcutt (UFC on FOX 22 Results) | MMAWeekly.com

“Super” Sage Northcutt and Mickey Gall made their way to the UFC through appearances on Dana White’s  Lookin’ for a Fight web series.  Following his promotional debut win over CM Punk at UFC 203, Gall called out Northcutt and Northcutt immediately accepted the challenge. northcutt-gall-ufconfox22-weigh-750

The two up and coming stars met in the UFC on Fox 22 co-main event in Sacramento, Calif. on Saturday and Gall picked up his second UFC win.

Gall secured an early takedown in the opening round.  Northcutt scrambled and Gall applied a guillotine choke.  Northcutt escaped.  He stood over Gall and delivered kicks to Gall’s legs as the two taunted each other.  In the closing moments of the round, Gall took Northcutt down and advanced to the mount position before the bell sounded signaling the end of the frame.

In the second round, Northcutt hurt Gall with a left hand.  The two clinched and Gall landed a winging right hand as the two separated that dropped Northcutt.  Gall followed his opponent to the canvas and took Northcutt’s back.  He landed short punches before applying a rear-naked choke that forced Northcutt to tap out.  All four of Gall’s profession wins have come by rear-naked choke.

Following the fight, Gall said he plans to drop down to the lightweight division and called out former welterweight title contender Dan Hardy.

“They’re all rear-naked chokes.  I train at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu at Gracie New Jersey.  If you go there, you’re going to be a submission specialist,” he said about the win.

“I think I’m going to drop down to 155.  I think I’m going to go down there and be the champion in a couple of years.  I’d like to welcome back Dan Hardy.  He’s coming back.  He says he wants to come back for a marquee fight.  I think I’m a marquee fight right now.  I’d be honored to fight him.  He’s a legend.  I’m a big fan.  I’d love to fight Dan Hardy.”

With the win, Gall extended his unbeaten streak and record to 4-0.  For 20-year-old Northcutt, he’s lost two of his last three outings.
