Michael Kuiper Loses Fourth UFC on Fox 6 Opponent, Hopeful to Remain on Fight Card

Michael Kuiper UFC 143With the days dwindling down to hours, the UFC on Fox 6 line-up took another hit on Monday.

Josh Janousek is injured and has been forced to withdraw from his UFC on Fox 6 fight with Michael Kuiper, according to UFC officials.

Kuiper’s manager, Brian Butler from Sucker Punch, told MMAWeekly.com on Monday that his fighter is still traveling to Chicago and the UFC is trying to find him a replacement.

That’s become a weekly effort for UFC matchmakers, as Kuiper has now gone through four scheduled opponents.

He was first slated to face Thiago Bodão then Caio Magalhaes then Buddy Roberts, and finally, Janousek.

If UFC officials do find another middleweight replacement at the last minute, it would be Kuiper’s fifth scheduled opponent.

You certainly can’t say that they aren’t going above and beyond trying to keep the Dutch fighter on the card.

Kuiper is 1-1 in the Octagon, losing his debut to Rafael Natal, who is also fighting on the UFC on Fox 6 card, and then rebounding with a TKO stoppage of Jared Hamman at UFC 150 last August.

The UFC on Fox 6 main event this Saturday at the United Center in Chicago features the first title defense of inaugural UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson, who puts his belt on the line against The Ultimate Fighter season 14 winner John Dodson.
