So you wanna be a wrestler?
Conor McGregor‘s agent says the two-time champion would be open to an appearance or match in the WWE.
“If [WWE] is going to come with an offer, we are willing to entertain it. We are here. Have their people call his people — which is me. We can have a conversation,” said Audie Attar, during an ESPN podcast.
It was just a matter of time. The WWE is, after all, where everyone wishes they could perform. Floyd Mayweather Jr., Ronda Rousey, Shaquille O’Neal, even President-Elect Donald Trump has appeared on WWE television.
So what if The Notorious One made a WWE run? Could he hang with the WWE wrestlers that he has so famously blasted in recent months? If booked correctly, McGregor can make more money in the WWE than he ever could in UFC. PPV. T-Shirts. Ice Cream bars.
If Vince McMahon is reading this, here’s some unsolicited advice on how to book him. Let’s look at five possible matches for the Irish champion.
No. 1 babyface vs. the No. 1 heel. Can you imagine the insults McGregor could unload on Reigns? Everything from his hair to his propensity to sleep during his matches. Reigns would be the perfect heel for McGregor because even though the fans don’t like Reigns, pro wrestling fans are fiercely loyal. It might take McGregor to finally get Reigns over as a good guy. And if not, we all can laugh as McGregor skewers Reigns week after week after week.
This is the dream match. Whereas Reigns would be unable to hang with McGregor, McGregor would likely meet his match with Cena, one of the sport’s best talkers and arguably its most popular. No one can freestyle poetry slam like Cena. If anyone can put McGregor in his place it’s Cena, who has gone toe to toe with The Rock and came out OK. The face-to-face promos on Monday Night Raw would spark Raw’s greatest ratings in a decade.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. knocked out the Big Show a few years ago at WrestleMania. Can McGregor do the same? The size differential between these two is worth the price of admission alone. The Big Show doesn’t get enough credit for his acting ability and he would have an opportunity to make McGregor look really strong, while putting himself over as a good sport. Can you imagine a Big Show choke-slam on McGregor. NO FOOKIN’ WAY.
“Who in the blue hell is this roody poo?” The Rock undoubtedly would bury McGregor deeper than Mankind in one of those Buried Alive matches. By the time The Rock is finished with McGregor, he’d be a shell of himself, begging to get booked in Combate Americas. No one out-talks The Rock and this feud could be just what The Rock needs to propel him into the White House in 2020.
Two MMA fighters going at it in a WWE ring. This match would be unreal. McGregor insulted Lesnar after his multiple drug test failures for UFC 200. Lesnar doesn’t take insults from anyone. The real drama to this feud would be hearing Paul Heyman build the match and work with McGregor on the microphone. Who wouldn’t want to see McGregor take trip to Suplex City?
