Max Holloway: Those upset with UFC calling Jose Aldo 'undisputed champ' need to do something with their lives

Max Holloway wasn’t eager to spend much time talking about Jose Aldo or Conor McGregor, but seemed more annoyed with people obsessing over the featherweight title picture.

Holloway (16-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC) faces Anthony Pettis (19-5 MMA, 6-4 UFC) for the undisputed featherweight championship in the main event of UFC 206, which takes place Dec. 10 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto and airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.

The bout was promoted to a main event and interim title fight after the light heavyweight championship between Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson fell apart. Conor McGregor (21-3 MMA, 9-1 UFC) was stripped of the featherweight title after going up in weight and capturing the lightweight belt. Jose Aldo (26-2 MMA, 8-1 UFC) was subsequently promoted from interim champion to “undisputed” status and the promotion immediately put an interim belt up for grabs between Holloway and Pettis.

The headliners spent most of Tuesday’s media conference call deflecting questions about McGregor and Aldo, insisting they were focused on the task at hand.

“We’ve got to go out there and do our damn things,” Holloway said during the call. “It is what it is, Conor set the bar and I’m here to beat it. That’s the bar we’ve got to beat and I’m reaching for it. I have all intentions on smashing it. First things first, the first step is Dec. 10, so that’s what we’re going to do.”

Holloway finally seemed to have his frustration with the questions overtake him late in the call. When asked about the frustration from some fans and media at the idea of Aldo being viewed as “undisputed” as champion despite a 13-second knockout loss to McGregor, Holloway offered some life advice.

“The UFC gave him the title, the title says undisputed, so you can’t deny him,” Holloway said. “It is what it is, he’s got the belt. I need to go out there Dec. 10, handle business, get what’s mine and go after the undisputed one. I ain’t no hater about the guy. He got the damn thing. He had the interim, they gave him the real one now. That’s what it is. Everybody crying, you’re not going to change it with all your whining. Stop your (expletive) whining and do something with your own life and move on.”
