Main card finalized for October's 'MFC 38: Behind Enemy Lines'

MFC-38-poster.jpgMaximum Fighting Championship’s main card for its next event now is complete.

“MFC 38: Behind Enemy Lines” has rounded out its six-fight main card, which will feature a trio of title fights.

Curtis Demarce (13-10) will meet Alejandro Garcia (14-5) in a lightweight bout, while Teddy Ash (3-0) takes on Jared McComb (5-2-1) at middleweight. MFC officials recently announced the new bouts, which complete the main card.

MFC 38 takes place Oct. 4 at Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. Tickets for the event are on sale now. The show’s six-fight main card will air live on AXS TV at 10 p.m. ET. Prelims are expected to stream on Facebook.

On the main card, Anthony Hamilton and Smealinho Rama meet for the heavyweight title. Sam Alvey takes on Jason South for the middleweight belt. And Anthony Birchak fights Tito Jones for the bantamweight strap. If that wasn’t enough, MFC officials announced that the lightweight fight between Jonatas Novaes and Kurt Southern – a rematch – will be a title eliminator.

“The first battle between these two fighters was a classic,” MFC President Mark Pavelich stated. “Southern was all over Novaes for two rounds and totally dominating, and then being a slick submission artist, Novaes pulls out the stunning, come-from-behind victory in Round 3. Everyone wanted to see them go at it again, and clearly the winner will be well-deserving a title shot.”

Demarce has won back-to-back fights and will be looking to bring his MFC record to even at 3-3. Of his three losses under the MFC banner, a pair were hard-fought split-decision losses to Marcus Davis and Richie Whitson. Garcia will make his MFC debut with eight wins in his past nine fights.

Ash will look to remain unbeaten in his young career. The Canadian has three straight stoppages to open his career after turning pro in march. McComb is coming off a rear-naked choke win over Marcus Hicks in the first round at MFC 37 in May that got him back in the win column after a draw and a loss to Derek Parker at MFC 33 and 35, respectively.

The complete MFC 38 main card includes:

  • Anthony Hamilton vs. Smealinho Rama – for heavyweight title
  • Sam Alvey vs. Jason South – for middleweight title
  • Anthony Birchak vs. Tito Jones – for bantamweight title
  • Jonatas Novaes vs. Kurt Southern
  • Curtis Demarce vs. Alejandro Garcia
  • Teddy Ash vs. Jared McComb
