WSOF’s inaugural flyweight title will be on the line next month when the promotion heads to New England.
Donavon Frelow (5-0 MMA, 2-0 WSOF) will meet Magomed Bibulatov (9-0 MMA, 0-0 WSOF) for the 125-pound title to open up the main card of WSOF 24, a promotion source today confirmed to MMAjunkie. And official announcement from WSOF is expected to come soon.
WSOF 24 takes place Oct. 17 at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn. The main card is expected to air on NBCSN following prelims on MMAjunkie.
Frelow turned pro in 2014 and is perfect in his pro career with four submission wins in five fights. After going 3-0 in 2014, he signed with WSOF and won his promotional debut with a decision win over Taylor McCorriston at WSOF 17. At WSOF 22 in August, he tapped out Carlos Garcia with a first-round guillotine choke.
Bibulatov, from Russia, comes to WSOF for his promotional debut on a career unbeaten streak. The 27-year-old fighter has five of his nine wins by stoppage, including four submissions. He made his pro debut in 2013, going 5-0. He added another three wins in 2014. He’ll be fighting in the United States for the first time.
