After a late scratch, Marc Diakiese has a new opponent for Saturday’s UFC 204 event.
With Reza Madadi (14-4 MMA, 3-2 UFC) scratched due to an eye injury, British lightweight newcomer Diakiese (9-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) instead will fight Lukasz Sajewski (13-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC).
UFC officials today announced the change. FloCombat.com first reported it.
UFC 204 takes place Saturday at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Diakiese vs. Sajewski streams on UFC Fight Pass and kicks off the event.
Diakiese, a 23-year-old who grew up not too far from Manchester, has four of his nine career wins by knockout. But it’s the most recent two that started to turn some heads. Under the BAMMA banner, Diakiese knocked out Rick Selvarajah in 24 seconds, and in May, he knocked out Kane Mousah in 36 seconds – with the first punch he threw.
Sajewski, meanwhile, is in a must-win situation. The 25-year-old Polish fighter opened his career in 2008 and won his first 13 fights, including nine via stoppage. However, since joining the UFC, he’s suffered a decision loss to Nick Hein and a submission defeat to Gilbert Burns.
The latest UFC 204 lineup now includes:
MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view, 10 p.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (FS1, 8 p.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (UFC Fight Pass, 6:30 p.m. ET)
