Lineup takes shape for 'Cage Warriors 70: Duffy vs. Lapilus' on Aug. 16

The lineup is nearly complete for next month’s Cage Warriors 70 event, which streams live on MMAjunkie.

The event takes place Aug. 16 at The Helix in Dublin, a city that recently hosted the successful UFC Fight Night 46 event.

Headlining the event is Irish lightweight Joseph Duffy (10-1), who owns a previous win over fast-rising UFC featherweight contender Conor McGregor (watch it below). After taking some off from MMA for a 7-0 pro-boxing run, he returns to the MMA cage for the first time since 2011 when he meets Damien Lapilus (9-3-1), a Frenchman who makes his Cage Warriors debut after a recent 4-0-1 run.

Co-headlining the event is a English welterweight Jake Bostwick (15-8), who’s turned around his career with an eight-fight winning streak, against Ireland’s Philip Mulpeter (7-4), who’s 2-2 since signing with Cage Warriors.

Irish lightweight Paul Redmond(9-4) also is on the card, though planned opponent Michael Doyle (8-3) recently was forced off the card with an injury.

“Irish MMA is riding the crest of a wave at the moment, and we’re looking forward to continuing to push the sport forward in Ireland, as we have been doing for the last few years, when we return to Dublin for another exciting event on Aug. 16,” Cage Warriors Director of Operations Paul Dollery stated.
