Legacy FC 46's Jason Sampson: 'No one has jiu-jitsu in MMA like me'

Jason Sampson said he’s ready for the UFC to call his number so he can compete against top talent in the sport’s most prestigious bantamweight division.

Sampson (12-1) has already won fights with Bellator and Legacy FC, and with another victory at Legacy FC 46 tonight against Archie Lowe (6-6) – especially a finish – “Wild Thing” believes he should get his opportunity.

“II know I’m at that level to be in the UFC; I’ve beat several UFC guys,” Sampson told MMAjunkie Radio. “(There’s) Erik Perez, and I’ve beaten a few other names. I just haven’t had my chance, but once I finish this guy in Round 1 on Friday night, I’m hoping to get that call.”

Legacy FC 46 takes place at Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas. Sampson vs. Lowe co-headlines the event, which airs on AXS TV.

Since his pro debut in November 2009, Sampson has won 12 of his 13 bouts with stoppages in 10 of those victories. He went 3-0 under the Bellator banner before leaving the promotion this year to join the Legacy FC roster.

Sampson is not only well traveled, but he’s faced some respectable competition along the way. He scored a first-round TKO of former UFC fighter Joseph Sandoval in February and also owns victories over another pair of UFC veterans in Perez and Shane Howell.

The 33-year-old believes his finish-heavy style is something most 135-pound fighters are not capable of. He said his submission game in particular is one of a kind and a unique ability most opponents aren’t prepared to deal with.

Sampson wants to back up his claim that he’s among the best finishers in the division, and he has the utmost confidence he can do that against Lowe, who’s been stopped inside the distance in all six of his career losses.

“I don’t believe in decisions; I’ve always pushed the finish,” Sampson said. “I’ve beaten people up with my hands, and I’ll take them down to the ground, and I’ll always look for that finish.

“I believe no one has jiu-jitsu in MMA like me. I’m always going to look for the finish. I’m going to finish stronger than I started, and I’m going to break this guy in Round 1. I know I’m going to get the finish.”
