Kaufman will debut for AFC on April 2 at the promotion's fifth event, where she will fight in front of her hometown of Victoria, British Columbia. Kaufman's opponent has yet to be revealed.
The 25-year-old has reportedly taken the fight with Strikeforce's blessing and will continue to compete under the Strikeforce banner in the future.
“I am extremely thrilled to be able to have Sarah fight for us, especially in front of all her friends and family,” said Armageddon FC president Darren Owen in the official press release. “She has been at all of our events and gets the biggest ovation. To be able to give our fans what they really want, to watch her compete, just makes sense.”
Kaufman lost her Strikeforce title to the aforementioned Coenen in October, where the powerful Canadian was caught in a textbook armbar while dropping ground-and-pound on her Dutch opponent.
Prior to that defeat, the Victoria, British Columbia native had racked up a perfect 12-0 career record, winning Strikeforce's 135-pound title with a unanimous decision victory over Takayo Hashi a year ago. Kaufman defended her title successfully one time in 2010, knocking out challenger Roxanne Modafferi with a slam at Strikeforce “Challengers 9” in July.
