Jorgensen-Albert, Siver-Yagin, Chiesa-Oliveira Booked for UFC on Fox 5

Bantamweights Scott Jorgensen and John Albert will collide at UFC on Fox 5, as will featherweights Dennis Siver and Eddie Yagin and lightweights Mike Chiesa and Rafaello Oliveira. Promotion officials announced the bookings on Thursday.

UFC on Fox 5 takes place at Seattle’s KeyArena and is headlined by a lightweight title collision between reigning champion Benson Henderson and challenger Nate Diaz. The evening’s main draw will also see onetime light heavyweight champion Mauricio Rua meet Swedish prospect Alexander Gustafsson, while former two-division champion B.J. Penn locks horns with surging Canadian talent Rory MacDonald.

Jorgensen, 29, recently lost back-to-back fights for the first time in his career, relinquishing a unanimous decision to current interim UFC bantamweight champion Renan “Barao” Pegado before suffering a knockout to ex-WEC champion Eddie Wineland on June 8 at UFC on FX 3.

Albert, 25, also enters the cage coming off consecutive setbacks, as “Prince” was finished by both Ivan Menjivar and Erik Perez earlier this year. A veteran of “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 14, Albert earned his lone Octagon win this past December at the “TUF 14” finale, stopping cast mate Dustin Pague in just 69 seconds.

Siver, 33, was expected to meet Yagin Sept. 1 at UFC 151 before that event was canceled. The former lightweight saw a four-fight winning streak halted by Donald Cerrone this past October, prompting the Russian-born German to make the move to 145 pounds and snatch a unanimous verdict from Diego Nunes on April 14 at UFC on Fuel TV 2.

Known as the “Filipino Phenom,” Yagin rebounded from defeat in his Octagon debut to take a split decision from former title challenger Mark Hominick at UFC 145 this past April. Prior to joining the UFC, the 33-year-old captured the Tachi Palace Fights featherweight strap one year ago by submitting onetime Bellator champ Joe Soto with a first-round guillotine choke.

Chiesa, 24, has yet to taste defeat as a professional, running the gauntlet during his time on “TUF 15” en route to winning the season with a first-round submission of Al Iaquinta on June 1. “Maverick” owns six of his eight career wins via submission and has finished his last five opponents in the first round.

Oliveira recently rebounded from consecutive losses to earn a win in his most recent outing, taking a unanimous decision from Floridian prospect Yoislandy Izquierdo at UFC 148 on July 7. The victory followed losses to Gleison Tibau and Yves Edwards for “Tractor,” who was finished by both opponents last year.
