Round one proved competitive, with both men scoring standing before the American hit a driving takedown to close the frame.
Salas continued to find his range in the second stanza, landing with crisp punches while attempting to avoid Kuivanen’s body kicks. The final round belonged to Salas, who planted the Fin on his back twice with power double-leg takedowns en route to the unanimous verdict.
Means Bests Magalhaes
Tim Means outclassed fellow Octagon newcomer Bernardo Magalhaes in the evening’s opening contest, taking home a unanimous decision after three one-sided rounds.
Though Magalhaes showed considerable heart by continually digging for takedowns and launching overhand rights, his efforts ultimately proved futile, as “The Dirty Bird” used his considerable reach and size advantages to pepper Magalhaes with straight punches from the outside and punish “Trekko” with knees from the Thai plum.
Loeffler Injured; Roberts Fight Canceled
Middleweights Buddy Roberts and Sean Loeffler did not compete as originally anticipated, as Loeffler was forced to withdraw from the bout after injuring his ankle while warming up for the bout.
