Jon Jones on Chuck Liddell's criticism: He should've fought smarter and saved some chin

It appears Jon Jones has had enough of UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell’s criticism. Liddell has fired shots at fellow former light heavyweight champion Jones throughout his run at the top of the sport, most recently appearing on the “Fighter and the Kid” podcast and stating that he could still give Jones a run for his money in the UFC’s famed octagon.

After saying that, in his prime, he would have eventually caught Jones (21-1 MMA, 15-1 UFC), the long retired Liddell added, “I will hit him. I’ll put my hands on him. I could still give him trouble.”

Jones took to his Twitter today to respond.

After an “Oh Chuck..” to open his Twitter salvo, Jones questioned why Liddell has “had something against him” before suggesting that Liddell “should’ve fought smarter and saved some chin.”

Jones returns to action at UFC 197 against champion Daniel Cormier after a suspension for his role in an April hit-and-run incident. The event takes place April 23 from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
