Jon Jones Reportedly Won't Be Fined by UFC for Failed Drug Test

Jon "Bones" Jones is in the midst of an indefinite suspension after failing a drug test prior to UFC 200, but the former light heavyweight champion will not be fined by the UFC.

According to Marc Raimondi of MMA Fighting, UFC senior vice president of public relations Dave Sholler said any potential fines will instead be handed out by individual state athletic commissions.

Per Dave Doyle of MMA Fighting and multiple reports, Jones tested positive for Hydroxy-clomiphene and Letrozole metabolite, which led to him being pulled from the scheduled UFC 200 main event against Daniel Cormier.

According to ESPN.com's Brett Okamoto, Jones is under a temporary suspension levied by the Nevada State Athletic Commission until a formal decision regarding his status is reached.

Per Raimondi, the United States Anti-Doping Agency has the authority to definitively suspend Jones because of its partnership with the UFC.

Jones served a six-month suspension and was stripped of the light heavyweight title last year after his involvement in a hit-and-run accident in New Mexico.

The 29-year-old superstar was reinstated and scored an impressive victory over Ovince St. Preux in his return at UFC 197.

Jones' positive test could lead to a two-year ban from competition, which means one of the UFC's biggest draws may not return to the Octagon until 2018 at the earliest.
