Jon Jones Reaches Anti-Doping Settlement with Nevada | MMAWeekly.com

After receiving a one-year suspension from the United States Anti-Doping Agency, it appears former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will face the same punishment from the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Jones has apparently reached a settlement with the NAC that will see him receive the same one-year suspension and no fine that he received from USADA, which would make him eligible to return to the Octagon as of July 6, 2017. Sources confirmed the news first reported by MMAFighting.com.

Jones and his team will likely still have to appear at next week’s commission meeting in Las Vegas, but the settlement is expected to be made official at the meeting.

Jones, 29, tested positive for the presence of two prohibited substances, clomiphene and letrozole, following an out-of-competition urine test on June 16, 2016. Clomiphene and letrozole are both Specified Substances in the class of Hormone and Metabolic Modulators and are prohibited at all times under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, which has adopted the World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List.

Though the sample was collected on June 16, the drug test results weren’t made known until July 6, which is why his suspension was made retroactive to the July 6 date.
