Johnny Bedford vs. Hugo Viana set for UFC on FOX Sports 1 3 in Brazil

A bantamweight bout between a pair of fighters looking for a return to the win column is the latest to be added to the slate when the UFC heads to Brazil in September.

Johnny Bedford (19-10 MMA, 2-1 UFC) will take on Hugo Viana (7-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at UFC on FOX Sports 1 3. UFC officials on Friday announced the new matchup.

UFC on FOX Sports 1 3 takes place Sept. 4 at Estadio Jornalista Felipe Drumond in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. It will be the UFC’s second visit to the city after first visiting for UFC 147 in 2012.

Bedford will be looking to rebound from his first loss in the UFC, which snapped a three-fight win streak. At UFC 159 in Newark, N.J., in April, Bryan Caraway submitted Bedford with a third-round guillotine choke with just 16 seconds left in the fight. Ultimately, Caraway received a “Submission of the Night” bonus for his efforts. Bedford, a contestant on Season 14 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” had won his first two official fights in the UFC with stoppages of Louis Gaudinot and Marcos Vinicius.

“Wolverine” Viana, part of the first season of “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil,” was stopped by T.J. Dillashaw with a first-round TKO at UFC on FOX 7 in April for the first loss of his professional career. His first two official UFC fights were wins John Teixeira at UFC 147 and a knockout of Reuben Duran at the TUF 16 Finale.

With the new booking, the UFC on FOX Sports 1 3 lineup now includes:

• Joseph Benavidez vs. Jussier Formiga
• Sean Spencer vs. Yuri Villefort
• Ali Bagautinov vs. Marcos Vinicius

• Johnny Bedford vs. Hugo Viana
