Joe Rogan: 'I'm Not Doing It Anymore' | MMAWeekly.com

UFC commentator Joe Rogan has been critical about interviewing fighters moments after they’ve suffered a knockout for years, but after UFC 203, Rogan has put his foot down and refuses to do it anymore.

“It’s something I had suggested a long time ago, back when we interviewed Mirko Crop Cop (Filipovic) after (Gabriel) Gonzaga knocked him out,” said Rogan during his podcast.

The straw that broke the camel’s back for the broadcaster came at UFC 203 on Sept. 10. Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic knocked out Alistair Overeem in the fight card’s main event. Following the loss, as has been customary, Rogan asked Overeem about the defeat moments after the fighter regained consciousness. Overeem said that he thought Miocic tapped out earlier in the fight. The replay was shown from two separate angles revealing that there was no tap. It was an awkward moment.

“It made Alistair look bad. And I think if you gave him a few hours, or even a day to talk about it, he probably would realize that that never happened and that it was just that his brain was scrambled,” explained Rogan.

Rogan has made us his mind and isn’t wavering.

“I don’t care. I’m not doing it anymore. I’m not doing it. If guys get knocked the (expletive) out, if someone really wants to talk to them, they’re going to have to talk to them. I’m not talking to any of them anymore,” he said. “I’m not doing it anymore.”

The longtime play-by-play announcer believes the practice is unnecessary and thinks the fight promotion is on the same page.

“I don’t think we need to, and I think the UFC agrees.”
