Joe Murphy suffered a rib injury and has been forced out of his World Series of Fighting 4 bout with John Robles.
Jared Papazian, on just two weeks notice, has already agreed to step in and take his place, according to WSOF officials.
Papazian and Robles now meet in a bantamweight contest at World Series of Fighting 4: Spong vs. DeAnda on Aug. 10 at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif.
The bout takes place on the evening’s preliminary card, which streams on World Series of Fighting’s official website, WSOF.com, and MMAWeekly.com, ahead of the NBC Sports Network-televised main card.
Robles (7-1) and Papazian (15-10) are both making their promotional debuts and consider each other friends. Robles is a top up-and-coming bantamweight, training out of the Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA camp in Albuquerque, N.M., while Papazian is a UFC veteran and former King of the Cage champion.
