Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson will make his first appearance since leaving the UFC at Titan Fighting 22 on May 25, but securing an opponent thus far has been no easy task.

Johnson will debut for the Kansas City based promotion after a loss to Vitor Belfort in January in Brazil.

“I’m back, and I’m fighting May 25 with Titan Fighting Championship, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to headline this event for all the fans in Kansas City and watching that night live on HDNet,” said Johnson. “I am so pumped to be fighting again, and I’m ready to take on whatever 185 pounder they put in front of me.”

The problem has been finding an opponent to put in front of him.

According to sources speaking to MMAWeekly.com on Friday, former UFC fighter Jay Silva has been offered the fight against Johnson, but as of now has yet to accept the bout.

Silva is coming off a submission victory over former Ultimate Fighter winner Kendall Grove in February under the Superior Cage Combat banner.

Overall, Silva has gone 3-1 over his last four bouts with his only loss coming to recent Strikeforce signee Bristol Marunde.

Sources from within Johnson’s camp indicated that they believe Silva is ‘avoiding the fight’, but all that’s known at this time is that Titan Fighting has offered him the fight but there’s no other confirmation.

The current hope is for the main event bout to be signed in the coming days for ticket sales for the May 25 event to kick off.

Johnson will continue to wait until Silva, or another opponent is found, so his Titan Fighting debut can become official.

MMAWeekly.com will have more information on Johnson’s opponent when it becomes available.
