James Terry vs. Conor Heun Helps Round Out Strikeforce Challengers 15

Strikeforce on Friday finalized its televised main card bouts for Strikeforce Challengers 15, which features Justin Wilcox against Rodrigo Damm in the main event.

Fights between lightweights James Terry and Conor Heun and welterweights Damian Douglas and Wayne Phillips round out the card. Other televised bouts already announced, in addition to the main event, include Satoshi Ishii facing Scott Lighty and David Douglas against Caros Fodor.

Terry, a winner of two in a row and four out of his last five, is coming off a 3:26, first-round TKO over Lucas Gamaza on Jan. 29 in San Jose, Calif.

“I’m looking forward to a good, hard fight against Conor, who has solid experience against top guys,’’ Terry said. “This is a big step up, but these are the kinds of fights I want. I appreciate the opportunity I am getting. I’ll be ready.’’

Heun is winless in two hard-fought bouts for Strikeforce, but the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu purple belt and former IFL and EliteXC fighter could just as easily be 2-0.

He wound up on the wrong end of a split decision against former world champion K.J. Noons last June, and dropped a close, unanimous decision to Jorge Gurgel in 2009.

“I want to win this fight badly,’’ said Heun. “I was very disappointed when only one judge got it right (against Noons). I love to put on great fights. But this is one I want badly.’’

Damian Douglas will be making his Strikeforce debut and first start anywhere since registering a 46-second, first-round submission of Joe Schilling on Sept. 26, 2008.

Phillips has won both his Strikeforce fights. In his last start, he scored a split decision over Fernando Bettega on Dec. 4, 2010, in St. Louis.

STRIKEFORCE Challengers 15 airs live on Showtime on April 1 from the Stockton Arena in Stockton, Calif.
