Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza is currently recovering from elbow surgery and anticipates a return to fighting in the UFC this August, according to a report on Wednesday night.
Upon his return, Souza desires a fight with the winner of a scheduled bout between Michael Bisping and Tim Kennedy, according to UFC Tonight.
The fighter’s manager, Gilberto Feria, told the FOX Sports 1 program that Souza’s left elbow gave the fighter problems in the last two months of training camp for his UFC Fight Night 36 bout with Francis Carmont, which he won.
Souza had successful surgery on his elbow last week, according to the report.
Feria also told the program that they believe Jacare choosing to fight the Bisping vs. Kennedy winner would be a bigger fight than other potential match-ups. Beyond Bisping and Kennedy, Faria said that his fighter would also take a match-up with the winner of Luke Rockhold and Tim Boetsch.
Bisping and Kennedy are currently scheduled to fight in on the TUF Nations Finale card in Quebec City on April 16. Rockhold and Boetsch will meet in Baltimore on the April 26 pay-per-view for UFC 172.
